PRINCIPAL ATTORNEY

Michelle Hua

Michelle Hua practices in the area of immigration and nationality law, with an emphasis on business and employment-based immigration matters. For over ten years, Michelle has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including: fashion, multimedia and interaction design, architectural and interior design, advertising and branding, technology, film and television, music, media, performing arts, not-for-profit organizations/foundations, and business consulting.

Michelle primarily handles temporary work visas, with O-1s (for aliens of extraordinary ability) taking up the largest share of her caseload. She also handles H-1Bs and E-3s (for specialty occupation professionals), L-1s (for multinational transferees), TNs (for Canadian and Mexican professionals), and E-2s (for treaty country investors). In the permanent residency/green card context, she represents US employers and individuals in a wide variety of immigration matters, including labor certification (PERM) applications for professionals, and EB-1 immigrant petitions for aliens of extraordinary ability, multinational executives/managers, and outstanding researchers. Michelle also represents individuals seeking to obtain permanent residency through the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. Her knowledge and expertise of the procedures of the various US government agencies allow her to effectively represent clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the US Department of Labor, and the US Embassies/Consulates.  

Prior to re-launching her law practice, Michelle was the Managing Partner of Hua Law Firm's predecessor firm, Hua & Murga LLP.

Jenny Hobbs

Jenny Hobbs practices in the area of immigration and nationality law, with an emphasis on business and employment-based immigration matters.  Jenny has a wealth of experience and expertise in handling high-volume and complex work visa and employment-based green card cases for large multinational corporations and Fortune 500 companies as well as mid-sized and smaller clients in the areas of manufacturing, technology, marketing/communications, consulting, fashion and merchandising, and finance. She provides counsel on all aspects of corporate immigration, including all major nonimmigrant visa categories (H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, E-3, E-2 visas & registration, J-1, F-1, H-3, I, O-1, TN), employment-based (EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3) and family-based permanent residence applications, and naturalization applications.

Jenny also has expertise in a number of specialized corporate matters, including counseling large and complex multinational organizations regarding the impacts of various corporate reorganization scenarios on existing and new immigration cases including joint ventures, spinoffs, mergers, acquisitions, and asset sales; assisting clients with refocusing immigration strategy after receiving a large percentage of Requests for Evidence; counseling extensively regarding appropriate use of the B-1 business visitor visa category on a high-volume basis for itinerant employees undertaking varied contractual and non-contractual activities with short notice; counseling and assisting clients with minor criminal issues to successfully obtain visas; assisting a large construction company with obtaining a high volume of H-2B visas; and managing all aspects of a J-1 visa program for a large multinational diversified manufacturing, technology, and financial company including representing clients in communications with the Department of State.

Jenny’s experience spans all stages of the immigration process, including assisting clients with initial case strategy; reviewing, researching, and strategizing around complex issues; case preparation; client consultations; and appropriate submission to and liaising with the Department of Labor, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service, the US Department of State (including many Consulates and Embassies around the world), and Customs and Border Protection.

Prior to starting The Law Office of Jennifer L Hobbs, Jenny was Associate Attorney at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, recognized as the world’s leading corporate immigration services provider and adviser.

Alfredo Murga

Alfredo Murga  practices in the area of immigration and nationality law, with an emphasis on family-based, naturalization, and asylum matters. Alfredo represents foreign nationals and their families in adjustment of status cases and in consular processing at US Embassies and Consulates, worldwide. Accordingly, his representation includes multiple government agencies, such as the US Citizenship and Immigration Services and the US Department of State.

Over the years, Alfredo has proudly represented LGBT clients and families in their quest for full recognition under immigration law.  He has represented LGBT individuals who seek protection for fear of falling victim to persecution on account of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or political opinion regarding equal rights. His representation includes asylum-related proceedings before the CIS Asylum Offices, Immigration Court, and the Board of Immigration Appeals.

Prior to assuming the role of Of Counsel, Alfredo was a Partner at Hua Law Firm's predecessor firm, Hua & Murga LLP.  Alfredo is currently also a Partner at Murga and Hunter LLP.
